• (fr-FR) Colorant rouge solide obtenu à partir de garance moulue traitée à l'acide sulfurique, précipitée et oxydée. Le procédé de fabrication de la garacine a été mis au point en 1839 par Lagier et Thomas. La garancine avait un pouvoir colorant 4 à 5 fois supérieur à celui de la garance, mais le produit final n'était pas aussi résistant à la lumière et au lavage.
• (en-US) A red solid colorant obtained from ground madder treated with sulfuric acid, precipitated and oxidized. The process for making garacine was perfected in 1839 by Lagier and Thomas. Garancine had about 4 to 5 times the dyeing power of madder, but the final product was not as lightfast or wash resistant.
