(fr-FR)An amorphous red powder. Cobaltous sulfate occurs in nature as the mineral bieberite. It is prepared synthetically by the action of Sulfuric acid on Cobaltous oxide. It has several states of hydration ranging from the monohydrate to heptahydrate. Cobaltous sulfate is used as a red pigment in ceramic glazes and as a drier in oil paints, varnishes, and lithographic inks.
